PROMOTE Labour Market & Skills Reports

Understanding the Labour Market Landscape for Migrant and Ukrainian Women in Europe

As part of the PROMOTE Erasmus+ project, we conducted a two-part research effort to support the integration of highly skilled migrant women, including displaced Ukrainian women, into the European labour market. This webpage brings together

  • A Skills Identification Report, based on direct input from 222 highly skilled migrant women across five countries
  • Five National Labour Market Reports based on interviews with 20+ companies in Germany, Ireland, Poland, Spain, and Sweden.

Together, these reports provide a comprehensive picture of both the skills and aspirations of migrant women and the real-world needs and challenges identified by employers.

Key Research Insights

  • 222 migrant and Ukrainian women surveyed across five countries
  • Research conducted between November 2024 and April 2025
  • Over 20 companies and labour market stakeholders interviewed
  • Women's skills spanned law, healthcare, IT, education, business, design, and more
  • Top training interests: AI, digital skills, communication, data analytics, language learning

Despite strong qualifications (56% of women surveyed hold tertiary degrees), many face:

  • Language barriers
  • Non-recognition of qualifications
